Dr. Almallah is a board-certified ophthalmologist, certified both by the American Board of Ophthalmology and the American Board of Eye Surgeons. His primary practice is devoted to eye surgery and has been practicing in Toms River and the surrounding communities for the last 29 years.
He is an internationally recognized refractive ocular surgeon and is recognized by his peers as one of the finest and most skilled eye surgeons in the world. In fact, patients have traveled from England, Germany, Korea, Saudi Arabia, India, Turkey, and across the United States to have their eye surgery performed by Dr. Almallah. He was also the recipient of The American Board of Eye Surgery's Doctor of the Month award in 2003.
As an experienced ophthalmic and refractive surgeon, Dr. Almallah has performed over 28,000 microsurgical procedures. He performs the full range of refractive surgical procedures including LASIK, PRK, RK, and lens exchange for qualified candidates.
His education and professional training include:
- A Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Pittsburgh
- Doctorate of Medicine from the Temple University School of Medicine
- Training to be an eye specialist at the Temple University Hospital
Dr. Almallah has articles published in the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Ocular Surgery News, Review of Ophthalmology, Cataract & Refractive Surgery Today, and the trade publication EyeWorld. He has been asked to comment on complicated surgical problems, which have been published in major international journals, and he has been an invited speaker at major national and international ophthalmology meetings.
Dr. Almallah evaluates every surgical candidate personally and does not delegate any significant part of the evaluation to technicians. He applies his extensive knowledge and experience in ocular surgery to educate patients and their families to the appropriateness of recommending particular ocular procedures to patients. When he does recommend a procedure, it's with great confidence that the patient will benefit.
Dr. Almallah's other interests include boating (he holds a U.S.C.G. 100-ton master license for navigation of U.S. inland waterways). He is also a former U.S. amateur dance sport champion. His dancing skills were highlighted in the February 2011 ASCRS Eye World magazine.
