What is the PanOptix® Lens?
The PanOptix® Lens is the first and only trifocal IOL in the United States. It’s the latest offering in the AcrySof® family of IOLs, over 100 million of which have been implanted to date.
This specific lens is uniquely designed to provide clear near, immediate, and distance vision. It’s also engineered to mitigate age-related close vision loss known as presbyopia. There is even a toric option to correct astigmatism.
These next-generation features can help reduce your dependency on glasses. In a clinical study, 80.5% of people with this lens reported that they did not need to wear their glasses to see in the last week.
What Are The Benefits Of The PanOptix® Lens?
Cataract surgery is an opportunity to improve your sight with the right IOL. The PanOptix® Lens enhances both the quality and range of your vision. This means your eyesight will be sharper and more vivid than before, and you won’t have to deal with blurry zones.
The PanOptix® Lens can enhance your daily life by eliminating the difficulties associated with compromised vision. After cataract surgery with this IOL, you’ll find it easier to read restaurant menus, use a computer, run errands, and complete other activities. You will experience the full benefit of this IOL when it is placed in each eye.
Candidates For The PanOptix® Lens
The PanOptix® Lens is a great option for many adults in need of cataract surgery. Our eye surgeons may recommend this IOL if you want to address presbyopia and reduce your dependency on glasses. The toric version may be a great choice if you have astigmatism.
Keep in mind that every cataract patient is unique. Both an in-person consultation and eye exam are necessary to know if PanOptix® is right for you.
Cataract Surgery with the PanOptix® Lens
Every laser-assisted cataract surgery follows the same basic steps regardless of your choice of IOL. First, our experienced ophthalmologists will numb the eye area for your comfort. Then, they’ll use the Catalys® Precision Laser System to remove the cataract. From there, they’ll replace your clouded natural lens with an artificial one, such as the PanOptix® lens.
This safe and effective procedure is done on an outpatient basis, meaning you can return home afterward. Your vision may be blurry initially and will clear within a few days. After your eyes have healed and adjusted to the PanOptix® lens, you can expect to enjoy clear, complete vision.
