Dr. Nicole M. Caldeira joined Susskind and Almallah Eye Associates in 2008. Dr. Caldeira graduated Magna Cum Laude from Drew University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Neuroscience with a concentration in Neurobiology and a minor in Biochemistry. She was also elected to the distinguished Phi Beta Kappa national academic honor society.
When she realized eye care was her calling, Dr. Caldeira went on to earn a Doctor of Optometry degree at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO), where she received several clinical honors. Dr. Caldeira’s clinical externships include an intense rotation at the Cornea and Specialty Contact Lens Services department at The Eye Institute in Philadelphia, a hospital based ocular disease rotation at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, low vision and pediatrics training also at The Eye Institute in Philadelphia, and a diverse primary care rotation at Susskind and Almallah Eye Associates.
After completing her training at PCO, Dr. Caldeira went on to complete a residency at the Wilmington Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center in Wilmington, Delaware. This challenging program focused on ocular disease and provided extensive training in the diagnosis and medical treatment of glaucoma, macular degeneration, and ocular pathologies secondary to inflammatory, diabetic, hypertensive, and carotid artery diseases.
Dr. Caldeira is a member of the American Optometric Association, New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians, and Ocular Nutritional Society.
Dr. Caldeira is very enthusiastic to be able to bring her talents and expertise to Susskind and Almallah Eye Associates, providing routine eye exams, contact lens fits, laser vision correction evaluations, and treatment and management of ocular diseases. Patient education is very important to Dr. Caldeira; she enjoys taking the time to discuss with her patients their visual goals, concerns, eye conditions, and the treatment or corrective options available to achieve optimal vision and maintain good eye health. Dr. Caldeira looks forward to caring for the eyes in her community with passion for her profession and compassion for her patients.
