| Dr. Caldeira |
Dr. Caldeira completed her undergraduate studies at Drew University in Madison, NJ, majoring in Neurosciences with a concentration in Neurobiology and minoring in Biochemistry. Her love for science permeated her college years through serving as president of Beta Beta Beta, the biological honor society at Drew, engaging the sophomore biology students as a teaching assistant, and conducting independent research. Aside from her interests in the sciences, Dr. Caldeira was an active member of the Drew Dance Club and a tour guide for the Admissions department. Dr. Caldeira graduated from Drew University with Magna Cum Laude high honors, as well as member of the distinguished Phi Beta Kappa academic honor society.
Dr. Caldeira earned a Doctor of Optometry Degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO). In addition to her studies, she was an active member of the student government serving as a class representative. She also participated in the tutoring services program as both an academic and clinical skills tutor. Dr. Caldeira’s clinical externships include an intense rotation at the Cornea and Specialty Contact Lens Services department at The Eye Institute in Philadelphia, a hospital based ocular disease rotation at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, low vision and pediatrics training also at The Eye Institute in Philadelphia, and a diverse primary care rotation at Susskind and Almallah Eye Associates in New Jersey. Dr. Caldeira received several clinical honors during her time at PCO.
After completing her training at PCO, Dr. Caldeira went on to complete a residency at the Wilmington Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center in Wilmington, Delaware. This challenging program focused on ocular disease and provided extensive training in the diagnosis and medical treatment of glaucoma and ocular pathologies secondary to inflammatory, diabetic, hypertensive and carotid artery diseases.
Dr. Caldeira is very enthusiastic to be able to bring her talents and expertise to Susskind and Almallah Eye Associates, providing routine eye exams, contact lens fits, laser vision correction evaluations and treatment and management of ocular diseases. She looks forward to caring for the eyes in her community with passion for her profession and compassion for her patients.
